Van Epps Byrd

Bales - Abell
Lexie Bales and Jared Abell were married Aug. 19 at The Gardens at Flying Diamond Ranch in Redmond. A reception followed. The bride is the daughter of Kris and Kimberly Bales, of Bend. She is a 2001 graduate of Mountain View High School, and she attended Oregon State University.

Many registered voters don’t vote. It’s appalling that only 38 percent of voters turned out in the May primary election. Those kinds of numbers create worry about democracy being in distress.

Ralph A. Pruitt
Ralph A. Pruitt, 89, of Lebanon, died Nov. 6, 2006, at his son’s home in Prineville. A funeral service was held Nov. 10 at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. He was born April 6, 1917, in Portland, the son of Edward and Emma (Pike) Pruitt. He grew up in Eastern Oregon.
Resolve Measure 37
In another case, Joan Neil Boyden owned 440 acres near Ashland that she intended to develop a golf course and homes on. According to The Oregonian, she died just a few weeks before the Oregon Supreme Court upheld the measure. Her family may be out of luck.
