Webcyclery November Movie Night for MTB Culture!
October 29, 2007Posted by Dale F. COTA WebmasterNot only is Webcyclery improving the MTB culture by showcasing some fine MTB cinema but they are kicking down all the proceeds to COTA. This helps to cover the cost for stuff like renting the Ditch Witch. The Ditch Witch(pictures are on www.cotamtb.org), is helping us move the massive amounts of dirt to make the new improvements to the Whoops–some pretty decent MTB culture themselves! Here’s the details for the next WebCyclery Movie Night: It’s only 2 weeks away… Tuesday, November 13 WEBCYCLERY MOVIE NIGHT @ McMENAMINS KLUNKERZ 9:00 p.m. | $5 per person | 21 & over Come join WebCyclery and a theater full of cyclists for the Central oregon premiere of Klunkerz — a film that traces the early evolution of mountain biking in Marin County. Director Billy Savage has put together a nicely made documentary examining the people and culture that the mountain bike movement evolved from during the seventies. Klunkerz is about a group of cycling rebels so devoted to riding their bikes off-road that their newfound hobby ultimately created the mountain bike. The results have changed the cycling industry and inspired millions of people to take up the sport. You don’t have to be a mountain biker to be entertained by the colorful narration and history that unfolds in this movie. Klunkers features an impressive amount of archival footage, rare photos and interviews with Joe Breeze, Gary Fisher, Alan Bonds, Charlie Kelly, Tom Ritchey, Mike Sinyard and more. Kevin Gorman, a film critic known for his thumbs-up and thumbs-down reviews with his brother and fellow critic, Mean Todd, has praised Klunkerz and heralded it as “The sweetest klunker bike movie ever!” Mean Todd continued the accolades and added, “As long as you’re going to be at McMenamins drinking a beer, you might was well be watching Klunkerz at the same time.” While WebCyclery Movie Night at McMenamins is a fund raiser for Central oregon Trail Alliance (cotamtb.org), it is mostly an excuse to get together with 120 like-minded cyclists to watch kick-ass bicycle movies, drink a beer, and maybe win a cool door prize. Webcyclery Schedules Movie Night for October
September 24, 2007Posted by Dale F.Webcyclery Movie Nights continue. Fine cinema, cycling and funds for COTA! The details: MOVIE NIGHT FOR OCTOBER Tuesday, October 23 WEBCYCLERY MOVIE NIGHT @ McMENAMINS ROAD TO PARIS 9:00 p.m. | $5 per person | 21 & over WebCyclery presents a special bend, oregon screening of Road to Paris! Road to Paris is the groundbreaking documentary covering Lance Armstrong and the 2001 U.S. Postal Team over 27 days in April as they prepare to win a third consecutive Tour de France. Never-before-seen footage takes you inside team meetings and along for the ride in the team car during some of cycling’s greatest races, including a down-to-the-wire Amstel Gold Race and the most hellish Paris-Roubaix in years. Unprecedented access to Lance allows us to follow him on reconnaissance rides in the Alps, on the very stages that would come to mark his dominating performance in July. Road to Paris also explores the strategic thinking of one of cycling’s top directeurs, Johan Bruyneel. For both the avid cyclist and the casual fan, this movie provides a rare look into the world of professional cycling. Kevin Gorman, a film critic known for his thumbs-up and thumbs-down reviews with his brother and fellow critic, Mean Todd, has praised Road To Paris and heralded it as “The sweetest US Postal bike movie ever!” Mean Todd continued the accolades and added, “As long as you’re going to be at McMenamins drinking a beer, you might was well be watching Road To Paris at the same time.” WebCyclery Movie Night at McMenamins is a monthly fund raiser for Central oregon Trail Alliance (cotamtb.org). And it’s a great excuse to get together with 120 like-minded cyclists to watch kick-ass bicycle movies, drink a beer, and maybe win a cool door prize.
